Nomura: No New Final Fantasy XV Info at TGS

September 17th, 2013 by Tony Garsow

Final Fantasy XV director Tetsuya Nomura will appear on the newest “Play Community/Conversations with Creators” — a series dedicated to developers on Sony’s PlayStation platforms. While Nomura is posed to talk at length about the game in this newest video episode, he confirmed that the game will receive no new information updates at Tokyo Game Show this week. However, he hopes that fans can get a glimpse of the game through his new interview and asks that we “please look forward to it”.

Originally developed as Final Fantasy Versus XIII in 2006, the game was re-revealed at E3 2013 as Final Fantasy XV and moved to next-generation platforms such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No release date for the Play Community video was revealed, though we expect it sooner rather than later.

    Why don’t you love us, Nomura? ;_;

  • Not surprising, just disappointing. Nomura stated @E3 that news about XV will be @TGS, now he takes it back. What I’m more nervous about though is the lack of information about X/X-2’s release. They keep splashing that 2013 tag at the end of every trailer, but at this point I’m pretty sure that it just means for Eastern territories. We’ll probably get it in May or sth (considering LR comes out in Feb). Square-Enix promised that they’ll be delivering games at a quicker pace, but the way I see it, they’re all words. Plus I’m pretty much done with XIV.

    Then there’s Type-0’s sad story…

  • AnimaMagna

Why is this sounding like deja vu? ;^)

  • NigerianHokage

I already have dreams about this video game! Its the only reason I’m going to buy the PS4… now they want to dash my dreams again! SO NOT COOL

  • @alexsam

why would you think there would be such a release lag between west/east for ffx/2hd? both the games are already translated. the only thing that wasn’t was the international content of ffx2.

  • @Scott Oh, I don’t know… How about the fact that western territories were also promised LR:FF XIII would be released in 2013 back when it was announced? Or the fact that Type-0 was revealed on western grounds back in it’s Agito days? Or that they keep lying to us about XV? It’s been 7 years and all we get is a trailer? That is laughable for a company that has the stature of Square-Enix! And, if X/X-2 were to be released within 2013, wouldn’t they have announced it already? I can already see the “05/2014″ pasted on it’s next trailer and Kitase coming out, saying their motto: “Please be patient”

@AnimaMagna If you think you’ve heard before, you have. That’s what happens when people don’t keep their promises. Just cause they released XIV, doesn’t make everything ok.

Oh, you little… Nomura, why do you keep doing these things? 😮
I was hoping X/X-2 would be out this year o.0 I am so looking forward to spend another 269hours on that game =^_^=

And XV? If he continues doing this, it wont be out…ever..

  • Terrorofzanarkand

(269hours on FFX, not FFX-2 ofc)

  • agitoxiii

The whole FFXV situation is pathetic imo. I wont even take the time to elaborate.

  • It seems we ought to stop assuming this game has been in development for seven years, considering how it was never more than flashy and pompous until a few months ago, which by the way, still is. If we are to look at what SE has stated, then disappointment and distrust are first-hand: “this” game was once a PS3 exclusive, at one point it was even reported there would be unique functions regarding sixaxis motion, but all that decayed away in malprocessed hype and an annoying quantity of “please look forward to it”s to the point the game was called vaporware. I feel like sitting back and just letting this company deliver whatever they want, backlash will always ensue, regardless, and they won’t take money out of anyone’s pocket.
Disappointment in the West drags behind SE in such quantity these days that at times it’s as if no one actually knows what’s going on or what to expect. I’m thinking Bravely Default to be a title that might quiet this nuisance a bit, a game that would perhaps have sold and would sell much more if it was called Final Fantasy: Bravely Default. But leave it so SE to do odd experiments.
