Final Fantasy XV’s First DLC Pack Will Focus on Gladiolus, Feature The Return of a Classic Villain

December 15th, 2016 by Natalie

Final Fantasy XV may be out, but the team at Square Enix is working just as hard as before the game was released to the world.

Previously, game director Hajime Tabata outlined the upcoming plans for the game’s downloadable content. Along with a free update to the game that will include New Game+, new difficulty modes, readability tweaks, and additional story content that will primarily be for Chapter 13, Tabata assured that the team is also working on the previously announced downloadable content. Among that list will be the first story DLC to be released, which will be the tentatively named Episode Gladiolus.

More information about Episode Gladiolus has now been released. A special edition book with information on the DLC was recently released to fans and certain members of the YouTube community, and we were able to get our hands on it. In the book, Haruyoshi Sawatari, Final Fantasy XV‘s DLC producer, revealed that Noctis’ childhood friend and bodyguard will be facing off a classic Final Fantasy villain, Gilgamesh in what will surely be an epic battle. This familiar figure of the series will only be seen in the DLC, so if you want to see Gilgamesh and all his glory in the world of Final Fantasy XV, you won’t want to miss out on Episode Gladiolus.

Additionally, the DLC will allow you to travel to areas that you weren’t able to reach in the main game, allowing for further exploration of the expansive land that is Lucis. Hopefully, future DLC will continue to allow players to get to know this world even further and deeper.

Sawatari concluded his thoughts on the game’s DLC content by sharing, “We’re also planning on content that will truly blow your mind.”

It’s safe to say that if you love Final Fantasy XV, you won’t have to miss it too much because plenty of exciting new content is on the way. What are your hopes for future content? Let us know in the comments and feel free to share and brainstorm on the forums!
