Final Fantasy XV: Window’s Edition’s announcement surprised some of us with its massive 170 GB download size, luckily that isn’t the case anymore. In an interview with Kotaku Australia, Final Fantasy XV Director, Hajime Tabata made some clarifications.

“That was a mistake actually,” Tabata told through a translator Kotaku at Gamescom 2017. The director clarified how the mistake happened.

That was a communications mistake – something got put in a memo that really shouldn’t have. What that is [the specifications that went out to press] based on the specs that we’re running the demo on today.”

The director continued to clarify that the final specs of the finished version have not been fixed yet, and there’s a good chance they’re going to change. According to the Tabata:

“Someone put that in there and it got reported as the recommended specs, but that’s not the final fixed version. The fact that it became that number is a communication [error].”

Besides the 170 GB download size, Tabata also mentioned the very high-end, price, GTX 1080ti video card, were used for demo machines only, and that the game’s minimum requirements would be around the same level of the console versions or maybe even lower in the future.

Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition will be released in early 2018 for PC via Steam. The game is currently available on Xbox One and PS4, with a mobile version also coming on its way soon.
