Final Fantasy XV Voice Actor Confirmed

October 27th, 2013 by Tony Garsow

xv

Voice actor Jay Preston will be voicing a character in Final Fantasy XV, so declares his official website and LinkedIn profile. It appears that voice casting is underway at Square Enix to pick out who will star in the English version of the game. Every trailer we’ve seen up until this point has come with Japanese voice acting — perhaps the next time we see the game, English dubbing will accompany it!

You can hear a sample of Preston’s previous work below, and visit his official website here.

What English voice actors would you like to see accompany the overseas version of Final Fantasy XV? Leave your suggestions in a comment below!

  • Well, I like the fact that they’re reaching out for more accomplished actors. Apparently this guy played in Pirates Of The Carribean 3 and Adam Bobrow also’s been casted. He’s guested in some episode of a show (I can’t remember where though). They need people who will blend in nicely with one another, since I remember Nomura saying that some scenes are so intense that they actually needed the actors to be in the same room in order to convincingly play them out. I’m thinking, not just voice actors, but full-fledged actors. There’s no one in particular that comes to mind right now (although I must admit, I have taken a liking to Yuri Lowenthal and Liam O’Brian’s voices, but they’ve already been in FF games).

  • Joey

@alexsam, where did the “Adam Bobrow voicing a XV character” come from?

  • There better be a dual audio

  • AnimaMagna

The voice actors I might like to hear.. Oh, Matthew Mercer or David Hayter (the latter not in his gravelly Snake voice), and for one of the female characters, maybe Minae Noji (loved her Milla Maxwell).

  • Maxialstar

I think this could be Noctis voice! But it needs to be a little darker.

  • Preferably, the voices behind any and all of the characters would be from unknown (to me at least) actors. This is nearly imperative so that the dramatic depth is not waned, which happens when I recognize too much of a voice. The less I know them, the better.

This is a mainline FF title, I have no concern they’ll make any grave mistakes.

As for the actor above, he sounds common enough.

Dual-audio would be great. If they can do it.

  • Alex

    @Maxialstar
I was thinking it was more along the lines of Prompto.

  • @Joey A little while after E3, Adam Bobrow posted on his Fb page that he was casted to be in the “new Final Fantasy game” (a.k.a. XV), but then immediately took it down by posting that he wasn’t allowed to say anything about it. I actually found out through FF Network. I’ve been following him ever since but he hasn’t posted anything relevant.

I don’t get the need for dual audio. It’s like admitting that Japanese is a better language than your own. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, but when I watch Naruto and other anime, I hate that I have to sit there reading the subs. Having voice dubbing that you can actually understand makes it easier to connect with the characters. Oh well… If they’re casting people it means they’re further along than we thought. Let’s hope those 2016 release rumors die out now.

  • @alexsam
you’re like a fuсking king of stupid and bigotry.

    A. English is the “own” language for only 2 countries.

    B. The quality of dub has nothing to do with your language. Japanese voice acting is immeasurably superior to any other, to even argue that is only to stress your ignorance.

    C. Who cares what you like and hate. I hate to be forced to sit through atrocious murican dub and not have any other options because some idiоt don’t like to read. Do I ask then to have only original audio with subtitles? No, I ask to have dual-audio, an option, where I can switch to original voice acting. This option just as well allows you to have your сrappy dub. Your ignorant bigotry, however, outright denies me what I want in favor of only your desires. Dual-audio is the true democracy of video games, where everyone is happy, and rеtards like you are the ones that hold it down on the level of communism.

    D. You watch nardo. Ew.

    @Ginger
Don’t get your panties in a bunch because alexsam doesn’t want to listen to audio in English. There’s nothing wrong with a different experience. Why do people like you flip at the sight of anothers opinion. Get over your egotistical “elitest” self.

  • CalmingPurgatory

    I ment japanese srry alexsam

  • @CalmingPurgatory
Regardless of however acutely crass Ginger was, it’s remarkable you missed his (very valid) point entirely and then furthered a ridiculous counter. It’s as if you lack all sense of dichotomy and relevance. With a very small change in the place of words, you could be speaking for Ginger.*

Here’s what he stated, in case you had trouble understanding: the offering of critique towards why anyone would want to play a game with original audio is inherently opinionated since, and this is literal, many more people would be pleased if the game had dual-audio, because it creates a choice for the player. This is obviously irrelevant for those solely interested in the dub, which beckons the question, why do you oppose the possibility or want of dual-audio?
To assume things about others such as “It’s like admitting that Japanese is a better language than your own” is nothing but slimy, indirect slander. Even if someone likes Japanese more than English while being only a speaker of the latter, it’s their choice/penchant.

The user you defend basically implied this: I feel a certain way about this, therefore what you feel is less valuable; even though my experience of the game won’t suffer in any way shape or form, yours should.

If it’s serious, it’s asinine. But, I take it it was just a thing to discuss lightly, not an argument. Just talk. Regardless, that didn’t stop Ginger.

    *Here, just for fun:

    Get the point?

  • @Ginger Funny I’m the one being called a communist by someone that doesn’t respect the fact that I have an opinion… “Who cares what you like and hate”… Nice! I rest my case.

  • I’d like to know, in a parallel universe in which Square-Enix had decided to only release their games with japanese audio and english subs (since it’s already been said that the disc capacity offers the choice for only one of them), how fast would the franchise plummet?

  • Lamminator

@Ginger To call alexsam a “king of stupid and bigotry” and then write what you did is the height of ignorance and hypocrisy. For starters, I’m assuming that the 2 countries you are talking about for which English is their own language are England and America. You have completely ignored Scotland, Australia and New Zealand, so that’s 5 without even thinking about it.
To say Japanese voice acting is automatically better than anything else is an opinion and nothing more, you can’t parade it around as a fact.
You say “who cares what you like and hate” and then describe what you hate. If you don’t care, then why should we. Keep your egotistical ideals to yourself. Also learn to read properly, at no point does alexsam ever say that he doesn’t want dual audio in games, he just doesn’t see why others do. He even says that everyone’s entitled to their opinion.

  • Rurouni

I would love to play FFXV in japanese with english subtitles
