Active Time Report @ Jump Festa 2015

December 20th, 2014 by Tony Garsow

During Square Enix’s Active Time Report at Jump Festa 2015, Hajime Tabata had more to share about Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be getting a custom PlayStation 4 model in Japan, designed by the game’s art director Yusuke Naora.

On to the Final Fantasy XV section of the report, we learn that the large golem-like creature in the trailer is Titan. Cor Leonis, who has been missing from game footage recently, is still a party member — but only joins as a guest. The team implies that other characters may join as guests. Entering and leaving towns is seamless, but the town in the trailer won’t be available in the demo though.

Camping is important — if you don’t rest up it’ll wear on your party members. Experience points are tied to sleeping/camping. If you don’t sleep you won’t level up. Tabata implies you can do a low level run by not sleeping. Day to night cycles have been increased to an hour, but it still hasn’t been finalized. Noctis can stay awake for three days straight before feeling adverse effects. You can ride trains to travel between destinations and also walk around and explore a train as you’re riding it. Summons are still in the game, and they’ve had a higher development priorty than magic. Since Titan won’t be in the demo, another summon will be…

Cindy, a new female character we see in the trailer (she’ll be in the demo too), plays less of a role in the overarcing plot but is integral in your journey. She’s a mechanic, and we think she’ll be in charge of looking after your car. A video was shown of Noctis and company driving through a town. To show that it wasn’t merely a corridor you drive through, the team made Noctis exit the car and wander around the city. The team used a “Dog Cam” featuring a dog to explore more of the town. Some areas were unfinished with no textures and exposed wireframe, but the team wanted to show the size regardless. There are larger towns than the one shown off too.

Only first print copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will have a voucher for Episode Duscae. As an apology, Tabata is looking into releasing a tech demo you can play/mess around with – the one that was at Tokyo Game Show with the behemoth.

Final Fantasy XV is currently announced for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can obtain a voucher to play the game’s first demo called Episode Duscae with purchase of first print copies Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

    Me likey very much :)

Nice that Tabata is giving more people a chance to play the game. And a way to hold us over until it releases. And yes I’m so glad they increased day night cycle length, 30 mins seemed too short to me. In fact I think they should increase it even more, to 2 hours or so.

So preorder? Don’t understand the concept of “first print”… Anyway, looks like the chick’s names Cindy, so no female Cid. :( Still looks cool regardless!

  • Sorarocks93

Wait, Cindy? What happened to Cid?

  • Tony Garsow

Sorry, one detail I forgot to stick in there: you can ride trains to travel between destinations and also walk around and explore a train as you’re riding it.

  • AnimaMagna

It’s being alternately translated as Cidney and Cindy. I don’t know which is right either, but apparently the Japanese is “Cidney”.

  • cknight91

At least Cidny isn’t wearing all black 😉

Hopefully N.A. gets the type-0 ps4 (the one I see in the pictures). It would the perfect time for me to get one.

  • AgitoXIII

I like that Behemoth walking in the forest.

  • AnimaMagna

I think I’m growing to like her. A lot. The men look all cool and clean, but she’s the one who can fix their car.

  • Daniel Masterson

Tabata has confirmed that her name is Cidney.

the first shipment will carry those codes so basically day one copies.
