Square Enix’s TGS 2014 Lineup

September 2nd, 2014 by Tony Garsow

Square Enix has revealed the lineup of games they’ll be bringing to this year’s Tokyo Game Show in Japan. At the forefront is Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, where we’re expecting to see a new Letter from the Producer Live detailing Patch 2.4.

We’ve been getting more and more information about Final Fantasy Explorers through recent promotional streams, and we’re expecting another hefty update before it releases in December in Japan. It’ll also be playable at the show along with Kingdom Hearts II.5 HD ReMix. Bravely Second isn’t far behind, scheduled for a Winter release in Japan — so expect some major updates on that front.

Lastly, Final Fantasy VII G-Bike has been largely absent since its reveal at E3, but we’re expecting to see another update (perhaps a release window) some time during the show.

It also looks like there are no plans to show Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III, but here’s hoping!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PS4, PS3, Windows)
Final Fantasy Explorers (3DS)
Final Fantasy VII G-Bike (iOS, Android)
Bravely Second (3DS)

3594E (iOS)
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4, PS3, XB1, 360, Windows)
Chaos Rings III (Vita, iOS, Android)
Deadman’s Cross (Vita)
Dragon Quest IV (iOS, Android)
Dragon Quest VIII (iOS, Android)
Dragon Quest X (Wii, WiiU, 3DS, Windows)
Dragon Quest Heroes (PS4, PS3)
Dragon Quest: Monster Parade (PC Browser)
Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light (iOS, Android)
Gunslinger Stratos 2 (Arcade)
Kai-ri-sei Million Arthur (iOS, Android)
Kingdom Hearts II.5 HD ReMix (PS3)
Rise of Mana (Vita)

What are you guys expecting from Square Enix at this year’s show? Any surprise announcements or reveals? Leave us your thoughts in a comment below! Tokyo Game Show will run from September 18th to the 21st in Japan. Stay tuned to Final Fantasy Network as we cover this years developments!

I’m pretty excited to see what they’re going to show for FFXIV at TGS. Hopefully we’ll get a sneak peek at Shiva and Gold Saucer. I also want to see more of Final Fantasy Explorers and how Bravely Second will be different than its predecessor. So far they look very similar!

  • Again, no Type-0 OR XV?? This is getting really old! I sat through that whole Sony Conference the other day and all they showed was that lame DQ game! They better at least show some footage of Type-0, considering it “won’t even take a year to release!”

  • Tony Garsow

I’m hoping for some Type-0 HD stuff too. Who knows though, maybe there will be surprise reveals or announcements, but it’s tough to say since things have been quiet for FFXV and KH3.

  • Daniel Masterson

I am sure they have a surprise for us about FF XV and that new DQ game looks awesome. Im not to irked about Type 0 since he (Hajime Tabata) was just at PAX talking about it. I can wait.

  • AnimaMagna

I don’t seem to remember Persona 5 being announced for the September 1st press conference, nor do I remember Type-0 HD being announced for any kind of Pax Prime appearance. In fact, I think there are several occasions where a previously-announced game has made a “surprise” appearance. Personally, I would not judgement on whether it will be there or not until either a definite “no, it won’t be there” from Square Enix or the show itself has come and gone..

And for ASA above, I didn’t like the Dragon Quest game either. The Dynasty Warriors series just doesn’t good gameplay. To see a recent example of DW collaboration with a revered franchise, you just have to look at Hyrule Warriors. Youch! Actually, don’t. You’ll be scarred for life.

  • I’ve never actually played a DQ game, it’s just the fact that after waiting all that time and sitting through all those trailers towards the most I felt indifferent and to finally see that Square-Enix logo only to realize that it was a DQ game. You can imagine my disappointment.

As for any surprise announcements or trailers, IGN themselves have said they have seen Type-0 HD running on a PS4, so I imagine they must have some sort of trailer in the works! I just hope they’re not all like “Oh yeah, just wait till Jump Festa and we’ll show it to you!”. All we’re asking is to see how it runs on next-gen!

Since Type-0 HD was announced I guess I was a fool to expect anything about XV. But that’s cool. With the XIV patch and a couple of other games coming along and Type-0 HD not too far off in the distance, it can wait.

i have a feeling they will show type 0, xv, and kh3 at sonys conference, very excited for tgs
