This year’s E3 will be a boon to Final Fantasy fans greatly anticipating this year and next year’s upcoming titles. While most of the following titles have been mentioned for the conference, the following is the guest list. Of course, just because a certain game is missing doesn’t mean it won’t crash the party! Final Fantasy XIV, Lightning Returns, and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD will all be playable on the show floor, and Square Enix is planning a bevy of streams to better cover the event for fans watching at home and abroad.

The Square Enix E3 2013 line-up is as follows:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution -Director’s Cut- (WIIU) Playable
Deus Ex: The Fall (IOS) Playable

WHAAAAAAT??!!! No Versus XIII?!! Well at least i’m interested in seeing lightning returns but REALLY NO VXIII?!! well time to wait a lil’ longer… :/

  • Jacobo

    Where’s Guardian Cross¿?

  • AnimaMagna

Wow, so five out of the six titles there are playable? If IGN does not make a video with their impressions of the demos, I will be very surprised. Hopefully they will say something decent about it and not ditch it into their bad-box in favor of that CoD rubbish.
@Reborn, “Versus XIII” has vanished from Amazon and they are talking about “Versus” now. It could be that, or it could be XV. Either way, the “XIII” is gone now, I’m sure of it.

  • alexsam

@AnimaMagna The only reason IGN would mention any Final Fantasy is so they and their fanboys can go on yet another rampage about the “company’s decline”, despite the fact that they go out and buy anything that has the final fantasy label on it.

Love this line up! It’s exactly as I hoped and expected! It took a few years but Final Fantasy has returned! I like how they’ve cleverly kept the special announcement out of the line up, like a surprise! Live stream, all the way!

  • AntagonistGB

Still no Versus XIII. I gave up hope long ago, so all I can do is laugh that they think Lightning Returns is a good substitute.

  • I think that only 3 FF games is waaay too short to show us in detail at e3. There are other FF games waiting for info like Versus XIII (i’m sure they will keep the “XIII” on the title) or the new FF for next-gen they promised to show us at E3.

Who cares about KH, Deus Ex or Thief? This is a FF website!
Too bad SquarEnix… You had my hype and just throwed it to the toilet.

  • AnimaMagna

    @alexsam
Too right. It seems IGN is the only one being very down about LR at the moment. Even Edge (who gave quite scathing reviews of the last too XIII games) seems to have some confidence.

  • alexsam

@AnimaMagna The way they did their presentation to Lightning Returns back in September was really awful. With questions like: “Does the world really need another Lightning game?” and “Wouldn’t this time be better spent in developing games that would make consumers both old and new return to the franchise?”, they had the audacity to call that a news coverage. All they do is rant about “why Versus hasn’t been released yet”, as if it’s the only good Final Fantasy game there ever was or will be. They forget that there are still people that want to follow through with Lightning’s story or other that can’t wait to see FF X/X-2 in new HD graphics! But about Versus… Nomura has already said it that news about it will be revealed soon. There’s much more to FF than Versus but no one seems to look at that anymore. At the end of the day, people have such high expectations of it that it’ll probably disappoint them.

  • Tony Garsow

With regard to Versus: deep breaths, people.

  • anony

Versus and surprises will come someday, just wait adn watch

  • @Alexsam

As long as Versus is taking to get released that’s all I really see from people wanting is Disappointment when it finally gets released. SE has taken far to long to get it out, they even admitted it openly. So as far as I am concerned SE should just not say another thing about versus what say ever until they are ready to announce a release date.

  • alexsam

@Defrit Square Enix have barely said anything about this Versus game. I think their error was ever announcing it and then deciding to make it a PS4 title when the PS4 wasn’t even announced, which made things even harder since that meant they weren’t able to talk about it. Anyway the game is still around, but that doesn’t mean that all the other FF titles are complete crap! There’s been a lot of effort put in XIV:ARR and it looks stunning, Lightning Returns deserves a chance, even though the previous 2 XIII titles weren’t all that good (for some, I enjoyed them) and then there’s X/X-2, which fans have been crying out for the last couple of years. It’s not all about Versus.

  • When did they decided to make a versus a PS4 title, I don’t remember them ever stating that would happen.

  • alexsam

Well why else would they announce a title and then say nothing about it for 7 years? It’s obviously been ported to the PS4, though I guess we’ll know that for sure in about a week.

  • They have mentioned Versus a few times. Its been a while but the last time they mentioned what platform it would be on it was still PS3. That if I remember correctly was roughly a year ago though..
