Square Enix Featured at Japan PS4 Launch Event

February 17th, 2014 by Tony Garsow

The PlayStation 4 is set to release in Japan on February 22nd, and several Square Enix staff are set to attend the launch event. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn director and producer Naoki Yoshida will be present, as the MMORPG will enter a worldwide beta phase on launch day followed by an April release. The PS4 iteration will support the DualShock 4’s touchpad as a mouse-like feature, support PlayStation Vita through Remote Play, and make use of the console’s broadcasting integration to Twitch and UStream.

Important to note is Final Fantasy series executive producer Shinji Hashimoto‘s attendance, likely representing Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III — both announced for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at last year’s E3 in June.

It’s been over six months since our last substantive update on both titles, and Sony’s launch event for PlayStation 4 could prove to be a lucrative point to build hype for the console — and the games that will eventually come to it. The question begs to be asked: will we see more?
