So You Think You Can Ride This Magitek?

Magitek are no laughing matter! I’m still healing up from the Battle of Carteneau (chronicled by yours truly here), and let me tell you: glowing purple energy burns are the pits. To lift my spirits, Team XIV’s Fernehalwes has posted a new entry on the game’s official developer blog.

Garlemald’s techonological might may be unmatched by the citizens of Eorzea, but in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, it seems that some cunning and grand theft magitek will definitely suffice. This player, seen in the images below, has procured a Magitek mount for himself — so with bit of pluck and persistence, you can too. Yoshi-P has given the green light on the in-game design, and Fernehalwes took one for a spin through the Black Shroud. I assume he’s up to his neck in Greenwrath by now.

The designs are based on Magitek armor units that appeared in Final Fantasy VI, and are used by the Gestahlian Empire to lay waste to resistance forces opposing occupation.

It looks great. Almost exactly like the Amano artwork from FFVI.
