A Realm Awoken: Trials and Tribulations

December 10th, 2013 by Tony Garsow

primals

In Final Fantasy XIV‘s first content patch “A Realm Awoken”, players will be able to continue the evolving story of Eorzea and its struggle against the Beastmen (amongst other threats). You may remember that in Eorzea, there are various tribes of Beastmen that hoard crystals for their aetheric properties — which will allow them to summon their gods, known as the Primals. Even if a Primal is defeated by a band of adventurers, as long as the Beastmen have a will and a way, it seems their deities will return to reign terror over the land.

A week from today players will be met with Extreme Mode versions of Garuda, Titan, and Ifrit — the hardest of three Primal trials. You’ll be able to continue this quest after downing the Hard Mode version of Titan, but be forewarned that the Extreme Mode primal encounters will require a gear level of a certain value* before you can proceed.

Good King Moggle Mog: Item Level 54+
Extreme Garuda: Item Level 65+
Extreme Titan: Item Level 67+
Extreme Ifrit: Item Level 70+
*(Item Level can be determined by the average item level of all items equipped.)

Good King Moggle Mog XII will be returning to Eorzea in Patch 2.1, along with his trusty crew. You’ll be able to fight it out in the Thornmarch with a party of you and seven of your friends. The difficulty is said to be between Hard Mode Garuda and Hard Mode Titan. In addition to the Good King, we’ll also be able to challenge Ultima Weapon again in a new difficulty mode, tied to a quest from the Wandering Minstrel — an enigmatic figure that seems to pop up in Eorzea whenever he wills.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.1 A Realm Awoken releases December 17th in all regions.
