Final Fantasy XIV director/producer Yoshi-P let us know before that changes would be incoming for items and gil in A Realm Reborn. And today, they let loose the gameplan for Currency Redomination and changes to item nomenclature. Essentially every amount of gil in FFXIV, whether it be a player’s personal sum, or the cost of a potion will have it’s decimal point shifted by one. So players who have 10,000 gold will now have 1000 — and a 2568 gil-sword will now be 257 gil.
Changes to inventory space will change as well, with personal inventory space being reduced to 100 slots (formerly 200 slots). Any additional items you have on your character before the change will be transferred to a NPC where you can reclaim them. Your personal retainer will have an inventory space increase though, being that the bazaar and market ward systems are being completely revamped.
“Dated” and “Weathered” gear intended to be phased out of the game due to their existence before the changes to stats and the battle system will become untradable. Dye-able gear will also have the color addendum to the item name removed. After November 1st, any changes to a character will not be carried over to A Realm Reborn. Through the month of October, players will not be charged the monthly subscription.
