The Final Fantasy XIV Scholar’s Flying Fairies

The newest job to be announced for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is the Scholar, which will bring a second healing role to the game in addition to White Mage. What sets Scholar apart is the inclusion of heal-over-time abilities instead of potent spells which will give the class a unique spin on healing in groups. Since the Scholar is obtained by leveling the Arcanist class, you’ll trade in your Carbuncle for Fairy helpers.

Seen in the new images below released by the team, the green fairy is named Eos, while the violet fairy is named Selene. These two different fairies will support the Scholar in different ways, though their abilities have not been revealed quite yet. The design of the fairies are based on Akihiko Yoshida’s Flying Fairy named “Aerie” from Bravely Default.

We also get a glimpse of all five of Eorzea’s playable races in the Scholar Artifact gear. Artifact equipment is the trademark look of your job, as reflected in the various artworks have been released. When you undertake quests that relate to furthering your progress in any given Job, you’ll have the chance to collect this sought-after gear for yourself. Your signature weapon, called a Relic, is usually obtained through very difficult trials.

Interested in playing the Scholar yourself? Would you prefer healing groups with this class or the titular White Mage? Leave us your thoughts in a comment below!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn releases on August 27th for PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. A PlayStation 4 version will release next year.

    Heal over time..? As in Regen? This game is shaping up to be an almost brand new experience to the beta test and frankly I can’t wait to get started! I’ve already pre-ordered the CE!

    Slight correction, switched the names by mistake:

    Green = Eos
    Violet = Selene
