Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.1 – Now Available

December 17th, 2013 by Tony Garsow

Final Fantasy XIV players across the globe are now playing the first major patch for the game entitled A Realm Awoken. In this hefty update to the MMORPG, players can expect new main scenario quests that continue the story of the game. Also included is the Crystal Tower, a 24-man raid that will put three groups of eight players against iconic bosses from Final Fantasy III.

PvP in the form of the Wolves’ Den Arena also makes its debut, as well as extreme mode versions of existing Primal trials. Ultima Weapon and Good King Moggle Mog XII have also joined the ranks of bosses you’ll be able to challenge at level cap for a variety of spoils. Other new systems include the Beastmen Tribe daily quests which can be used to gain reputation with various factions, player Housing, and a Treasure Hunting feature that will let you dig up spoils solo or in a party.

The absolutely massive amount of content in A Realm Awoken can be perused in great detail via the official Patch Notes, which you can read here.

If you’re playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn currently, let us know what content you’re most enjoying at present — or what you plan to tackle in the near future!

I loved FF XIV but I played it way to hardcore in the beginning and got super burnt out. I hope I can go back to it one day as I loved the graphics, gameplay and the music!
