FFXIV’s Cameo in Lightning Returns Detailed

September 25th, 2013 by Tony Garsow

Lightning will be getting her own wardrobe of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn-themed equipment per Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Go There campaign, which features crossover goodies for newly-releasing titles. The outfit Lightning wears is the default female Miqo’te Dress, which can be color-customized. Lightning will also get Grand Company-issue swords and shields, which bear the unique look of each city-state.

Other crossovers from Final Fantasy titles include:
— Cloud’s SOLDIER Outfit and Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII (Preorder Gift)
— Yuna’s Summoner’s Garb and Staff from Final Fantasy X
— Aerith’s Outfit and Guard Stick from Final Fantasy VII

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will release on November 21st in Japan, February 11th in North America, and February 14th in Europe. Available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, PlayStation Network users will be able to download a digital version at release.

It has just occured to me that Lightning’s brand is not visible … unless she’s not a L’cie (which most likely is the case) but it should be on her chest … unless it’s on her breast or nipples …

In story terms, it’s not really a normal brand. It’s like Etro’s mark on Lightning’s armor and Serah’s bracelet in XIII-2, not a physical mark and more visible on their clothing (and it’s more than visible on her default outfit). In terms of cosmetics, would you really want a great spiky l’Cie mark spoiling the vision of all the costumes she wears? Not sure I would, especially with this kind of cross-game outfit.
