The next phase of the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn alpha begins this week, and Square Enix has made a new video availble showcasing the character creator you’ll see should you be chosen for this testing phase. As you can see, the game has gone through a full revamp, and that includes the character creation system as well. More features will be included for launch that aren’t yet included in this phase.
Hyur and Miqo’te are currently available in the alpha phase as demonstrated in the video, but what race and gender combination are you planning to play as? Leave us a comment below with your impressions of the video too!
I really like the way it looks, definitely a step up from its predecessor.
I’m curious why it lets you change the background when your starting location is based on the class you choose. Hopefully that doesn’t confuse people. Also, why isn’t a Limsa background available?
Anyway, good stuff, I’m excited to see the other unreleased hair styles too.

I assume the different backgrounds are so that players can observe their changes in different types of lightning.
