FFXIV Before the Fall Part 2 Arrives Mar 31

March 14th, 2015 by Tony Garsow

On a special edition of Letter from the Producer Live, the Final Fantasy XIV team revealed that Before the Fall Part II (also known as Patch 2.55) will arrive on March 31st. This will include the final chapter of the A Realm Reborn scenario called “Before the Dawn”, which will lead us Heavensward this summer. The Final Coil of Bahamut will be added to the Duty Finder and weekly loot lockouts on the World of Darkness will be removed, amongst other quality of life updates.

Speaking of Heavensward, the team unboxed the Collector’s Edition live, which will retail for $129.99 in North America. It will include special packaging, a dragon mount statue, art book, promotional video DVD, and various in-game gifts. Pre-ordering any version of the game will also get you some goodies, but most notable is the ability to participate in Early Access — so you’ll be able to play the game starting June 19th, four days ahead of the official launch on June 23rd.

Going forward, the team will be releasing an official benchmark next month which will allow you to play around with Au Ra customization options ahead of release. The next Letter from the Producer, an invite-only event that will be held on April 11th, will premiere the Heavensward opening movie, of which we’ve only had a tease thusfar.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward releases June 23rd on Windows PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Mac. The Collector’s Edition will be available for preorder on March 16th.
