Final Fantasy XIII-2 North American Release – January 2012

July 18th, 2011 by Sharjeel Hanif

Good news for Final Fantasy XIII-2 fans. Square Enix has confirmed via twitter that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is slated for a January 2012 release in North America. This is only one month after the XIII-2 release in Japan (December 2011). One month of localization is probably the quickest we have seen for a mainline Final Fantasy title, and certainly much faster than the three months it took to localize the original Final Fantasy XIII. Like XIII, XIII-2 was originally expected to be a March 2012 release for English speaking gamers, so this comes as a welcome surprise!

What do you think, personally I am hyped that we are getting the game very soon, much sooner than expected. Props to Square Enix for shortening localization times!

It literally is the quickest localization for a main title, even Duodecim was very very fast, which sort of makes me sigh a little bit when I think of Type-0 not even having a decent prospect of a Western release. A rather polarized way to deal with releases, I’d say.

There trying to make it easy with the media with this title, seeing how XIII screw alot of things up. Just like they let GameInformer have a big article on it. That’s why the localization and release date is soo quick.

The reason the localization is so quick is that they started doing it much earlier in development. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game had finished localization at by E3 this year.

The Square Enix staff that promoted the E3 demo spoke like they had completed the whole game in English.
