Final Fantasy XIII-2 Fan Day Event Coverage

November 23rd, 2011 by Sharjeel Hanif

Final Fantasy XIII-2 remains one of our most anticipated Final Fantasy releases in years, and for good reason. The title aims to improve upon its predecessor’s faults while carving out its own unique space within the Final Fantasy universe.

This past October, Square Enix hosted a special fan event to allow the fan sites to get an exclusive sneak peak of the game before it hits stores in late January. FinalFantasy.net was fortunate enough to get an invite to the event, which consisted of a three hour session with what appeared to be a full build of the game as well as an interview with XIII-2 Producer Yoshinori Kitase and Art Director Isamu Kamikokuryou.

Throughout the day you will find two very different impressions, from Tony and I, on the game. We honestly believe that these are essential reads — that tired and true fans of the series are able to most effectively communicate their ideas on where the game is headed due to their intimate understanding of the grievances fans have — to get a better understanding of the type of game XIII-2 is, and ultimately whether you should be hyped for it. (The short answer is yes!)

Alongside the two previews we have a transcript of our enlightening interview with Kitase-San and Kamikokuryou-San. We have also created a forum thread for you to ask any questions you may have about the game, which we will be glad to answer in the thread or in a future update. Feel free to use the comments system as well for any questions. Please note that there are some things we cannot talk about but we’ll do our best to answer what we can.

We’d like to personally thank Square Enix North America for putting the time and effort to throw an event like this together. It was truly an exhilarating experience.

Enjoy our coverage and any feedback is appreciated.

FF13 didnt really have flaws… it just had a different style from your average FF, which I really liked. :)
Been said that, I’m sure FF13-2 will be even better. I can’t wait for this game to be out!!!

Special thanks to Square-Enix North America for bringing us out to LA to play Final Fantasy XIII-2! Rob Parker, Laura Shiraishi, Elizabeth Stewart, Emily Shoji, the guy I look like at SENA, and everyone at the LA office! You guys rock!

Wow I’m so jealous! Man I really want to play this game so badly! Such a good thing there are many games at the moment to keep my mind off of this one. Or else the anticipation would kill me.

Well? Are there more playable characters besides Serah/Noel/monster and the occasional Lightning or not?
