Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Gamescom Trailer

August 23rd, 2013 by Tony Garsow

Square Enix has released the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD trailer from this year’s Gamescom, which features a new look at the game in both the original and remastered editions. Releasing this year for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD supports trophies and will include a remastered soundtrack by the game’s original composers. The battle theme featured in the video above was arranged by Tsutomu Narita, who arranged songs for Final Fantasy XIV Version 1.0, The Last Story, and Xenoblade Chronicles.

By pre-ordering from participating retailers, you will get a special artbook at no extra cost.

Ouch! Who did the OST remaster? That battle theme is.. just not Final Fantasy X.

  • Tony Garsow

Tsutomu Narita. And I rather like it. Yes, it’s a bit different, but that’ll happen when you’ve heard the same arrangement for over ten years.

  • it’s much more lively. compared to the original, the original just sounds so flat and now.

Wow when Yuna summons you really see the difference. Can’t wait to hear all the remastered songs. FFX have one of the best soundtrack.

  • Ry

I’m actually quite surprised. It is definitely more dramatic of a change than I thought it was going to be. To an extent, I agree with AnimeManga: It is a very different feel. I’m not saying that I don’t like it, I actually do, but it is different.

But actually kind of bothers me a little for one reason: They have said time and again that they wanted to preserve the original ‘look’ and ‘feel’ of FFX. How is it, then, that they give this version of the battle theme, and NOT give Yuna a freakin’ 3D staff, or 3D beads in her hair, or 3D rings hanging off of Valefor? I would pay (DLC?) to have an HD version of her Dissidia model.

It would be nice if they gave you an option in the menu to switch between the original sound track and the Remastered, like they did in the psp version FF4. It is kind of odd that I am saying this, though, because I like the new version, beyond the fact that the FFX battle theme is one of my least favorite battle themes in the franchise. That being said I am very excited to hear the rest of the soundtrack. I am excited to discover this game all over again.

Well….o do not know what to say…..i love this game since the first time i played in 2001. Love the gráfics…..love the soundtrack…..love all of this new HD remastered. I will defenitly buy it. But im not 100% satisfied with what i see trought the images and trai Drs….i just hope that it will be better in game….something is missing in all that…..just dont know what………

  • An arrangement? I had this idea that it was a “remaster” of the soundtrack, not an arrangement? I don’t know if it has slipped me or if this is yet again another poor use of terms. I wasn’t expecting the music to be re-arranged at all.
That aside, this new version is considerably fresher, it’s clearly a much more melodious and louder theme than the original, which I never tasted as anything but something that accompanied every battle: I feel that FFX as some of the “poorest” battle themes in the series, at least as far as random and regular boss battles go.

I’ll have to agree with Ry here, enable dual soundtracking and it’s a-ok for everyone.

Talk about rough criticism… Sheesh! I like what I see, it’s absolutely obvious that they have put in a lot of time and effort into this and the results are paying off. I really hope they just give us the release date tomorrow so we can breathe a little easier (unfortunately u never know with Square-Enix)

I think it may make the battles feel more exciting.(I did get bored with X’s battles). I hope Someday the Dream will End gets the same treatment and make it even more emotional.

I forgot Auron could hit monsters a mile! :)

  • TerrorOfZanarkand

That was quite different, and well, there is something
about the nostalgia that appears when hearing the original that I just LOVE so this one has yet to appeal to me.
Im kind of torn – I want some changes to the game, or else theres no point, but the music? I was thinking they would make it a little more .. I dont know, just sounding new (XD?) but not like this. Anyways, visuals look great and I have already pre-ordered the game, so I’ll be waiting for this wild ride 😉

  • Liz

I really like the new feel of the game! *.*

  • Kagerusui

    I loved FFX.
I was actually playing it a few weeks ago but, I dont think this “HD” is really that amazing.

Going from 480p to 720p does not impress me at all today.

They should’ve really made it HD.

  • @Kagerusui

What do you mean with “really HD”? 1080p?
