Final Fantasy X-2

If you thought you’d have to wait a while to see a HD version of Final Fantasy X-2, good news! This week’s issue of Jump confirms that Final Fantasy X-2 HD is indeed happening, and will be on the same PlayStation 3 disc as Final Fantasy X HD. The PlayStation Vita versions of each game will be sold separately.

Last month, Final Fantasy series executive producer Shinji Hashimoto debuted Final Fantasy X running on PlayStation Vita with updated character models.

Final Fantasy X-2 originally released in November 2003 for the PlayStation 2 as a direct sequel to Final Fantasy X. It stars Yuna, Rikku, and Paine as sphere hunters, and features a lighthearted story with less linear chapter-based progression. The job system returns with Dresspheres, and there are more minigames than you can shake a stick at.

I knew it was a bit odd that nothing about X-2 was being said up until now. Smart move with this and I’m looking foward to playing both. IGN says they are porting the International version of X-2 as well.

  2. AnimaMagna says:

Sounds like a clever strategy, and maybe a kind of apology to the fans for their inconsistency over the last few years. GO SQUARE ENIX.

Awesome! Oh man, I hope XII is next and is the international zodiac job system version! I don’t ask for it to be on the same disc as X and X-2, just that they make it.

  4. Gfet says:

Clever indeed, but even so, i suppose the price for the psvita console may be a little cheaper, since we are not getting both as the ps3 console, but even so it’s a great new for everyone that was going crazy with no word of this remake.

    EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

    *Happy flails*

OMFG THIS IS SO EXCITING! So we in the west are finnally going to get FFXInternatonal AND FFX-2International?!

FFX-2Internatonal has a monster recruit system that allowed you to change party members! You can even get doppelgangers who havew their apearances and play styles based off your party members from the first game, SEYMOUR INCLUDED! OH GOSH THIS IS SO EXCITING I CANT EVEN EEEEEEEEEeeeEEE!!!!

  6. d2punkrock4thisw says:

@Ixbran That’s kind of the one part I wasn’t a huge fan of in the international version… Like I was super excited to be able to have Lulu in my party but the “monsters” are AI and they attack on their own. That was the one downside in my opinion. I also wasn’t too fond of the Last Mission in the international version. For one I couldn’t understand a word of it, and two it played nothing like the original game. It reminded me of playing a board game.

  7. TheBadass says:

I hope this means we’ll get a FFXII HD with a 3D remake of FFXII Revenant Wings. :)

  8. Ixbran says:

@d2punkrock4thisw: Even so it will still be nice getting to use that feature. even if you cant control monster skills directly, i think its still exciting to finally have that feature available to us.

  9. anony says:

@badass: that seems very possible to do if square enix tries to do their best on it and I hope so too. kh:recom was possible when kh2:fm+ was released. Even they thought about kh:days for kh hd collection, but ended up with movie in that.

I highly doubt gcn/wii ff:cc will have an hd collection for wii U. I would like ff7:cc/ff7:doc to be bundled up.

Open Question to all: what new thing would you want in this collection? (could be feature or easter egg, jst any additional that you like)
-Trophies/touch graphics wouldn’t count, so there out of the question.

I would want something new in this, like icing on the perfect cake. Maybe a new item, or boss.

Since shinji is involved porting this, I hope he does add something would be cool, but i guess it just trophies and touchups. previous port had some new (big or small) additions or easter eggs. I.e ff6 adv with summons/spells/items and kh hd collection.

Wow, SE. Just, … wow ….
*beats head against desk until unconscious*

  12. Jugg says:

I’m hoping for an option to choose between English and Japanese dialogue with subtitles.

  13. AntagonistGB says:

Ahahahahaha, WHAT?! Why?! What’s next? Dirge of Cerberus HD? The Spirits Within Director’s Cut? Why does Square have such a hard time moving past their terrible games?

And why do fans keep eating this garbage up? Really guys, you don’t HAVE to like it just because it’s Final Fantasy

  14. agitoxiii says:

So is this confirmed to be the international edition with added stuff?????

  15. Chris says:

    @AntagonistGB

Not everyone thinks this game is terrible. And no company will cater to any single persons opinion. Sorry if that hasn’t dawned on you until now.

    @agitoxiii

Yes they are remastering the Internation Version + Last Mission of X-2 in HD and it will be bundled with X on the PS3. Both will be the International rereleases.

  16. agitoxiii says:

Oh great!ima reply there asap then.
