World of Final Fantasy Collector’s Edition Was Available in Australia Although Extremely Overpriced

August 2nd, 2016 by Joey

World of Final Fantasy will be launching on Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita consoles world wide in October this year. The adventure follows Lann and Reyne, two siblings who journey to a mysterious land to rediscover their lost memories where they meet classic Final Fantasy characters along the way.

A Limited Edition and a Collector’s Edition were announced on July 21st and features an abundance of goodies for those who preorder. The Limited Edition is meant to be available for the same price as the regular edition in North America ($60USD) and the Collector’s Edition is a Square Enix Store exclusive ($119USD).

Australia does not have access to a proper Square Enix Store, and the one available just features digital PC codes for their games, and as such Collector’s Editions for games either do not come to Australia or wind up at EB Games Australia as an exclusive. The latter has occurred for World of Final Fantasy, but with a hefty toll.

World of Final Fantasy will set Australian’s back $250AUD come October. The preorder can only be home delivered, which brings in a $7.70 shipping cost. Current currency conversions for the Collector’s Editions suggest that the $119USD price tag should suggest that World of Final Fantasy should cost only $180.25. This doesn’t take into account international shipping, but even then it should not have included a $70 price hike.

The listing for World of Final Fantasy Collector’s Edition has officially been removed from EB Games Australia’s website, citing “We do not have World of Final Fantasy Collector’s Edition in stock, please select a store to PickUp from or remove the item from your cart.”
