Our First Look at Final Fantasy Type-Next?

March 20th, 2015 by Tony Garsow

Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy Type-0 and Final Fantasy XV, was in Hong Kong for an event promoting Final Fantasy Type-0 HD when he revealed a look at what could be the next in line for the sub-franchise. Set in what seems to be a Far Eastern-themed setting (the real-life Hong Kong backdrops may not be part of the artwork presented), what has been referred to as “Final Fantasy Type-Next” has also been hinted in a secret movie (watch it here).

In a recent presentation at Southern Methodist University, one of the Final Fantasy series’ most recognized art directors, Yusuke Naora, hinted he was working on a game with a Japanese style as he sketched a piece inspired by a kabuto. One of these new artworks includes Naora’s signature too.

What are you expecting from Final Fantasy Type-Next? Leave us your thoughts in a comment below!

Wow looks super cool. Seems a little early for me to get excited about the next Type game but at least this shows where Tabata is going after he finishes up XV which probably means Ito is working on XVI !! woo hoo.

It all looks fascinating, and the focus on Japanese culture and settings would I think be a neat draw for western fans and something fairly new to the Final Fantasy series. One stipulation: improve the quality of localization!
