DPS details more Type-0 characters/systems

April 26th, 2011 by Tony Garsow

This week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation gives us a look at a few new characters in Final Fantasy Type-0 as well as more information about Machina and Rem, whom we were introduced to in the last media cycle. It also details what to expect as far as the story and mission structure of the game.

Machina Kunagiri (CV: Hiroshi Kamiya)
The dark brown-haired young man who weilds two drill-shaped rapiers, he is a part of Class Zero. His brother died in the war with Milites. He intends to protect Rem, whom he has known since his childhood. He is able to chain his attacks together easily, and can combo up to ten times. He is also able to use a spinning attack with the nature of his drill-type weapons to deal damage.

Rem Tokimiya (CV: Shiraishi Ryouko)
The brown-haired girl who weilds daggers and moves as if she is dancing in battle. She is Machina’s childhood friend and is morally upright; Rem vows allegiance to the crystal. She is able to use Aspil-type magic to absorb hits and even regenerate MP.

Khalia Chival VI (CV: Iemasa Kayumi)
The 174th director of the Rubrum Peristylium. He is an elderly man who has long gray hair, and in his prime he was known as a great wizard or wielder of magics.

Izana (CV: Keiji Fujiwara)
A young man in the Rubrum Peristylium whom we’ve seen in the SE1PDP trailer wounded and calling out for Ace’s help. He likes chocobos, and is seen reaching out to an injured one in the trailer.

M.O.O.G.L.E (CV: Sumihire Morohoshi)
First appearing last week, the M.O.O.G.L.E of Final Fantasy Type-0 stands for “Military Operation Organization Guidance / Logistics Expert” and provides the player’s character with missions supplementary to the game’s scenario. It’s full name is listed as “Hattsumikamine Routoyousuna Elfuruchi”. This moogle caters only to Class Zero, although there are more.

Qator Bashtar (CV: Hideo Ishikawa)
A general serving under High Commander Cid Aulstyne and the invading forces of Milites. He is also an older man with gray hair and and eyepatch and a lust for battle; he is often ready to fight at the front lines. He uses a sword and gun.

Cid Aulstyne (CV: Shuichiro Moriyama)
High Commander of Milites, he desires to capture all four of the crystals. He is a very charismatic leader, and is said to be employing special soldiers known as “jammers” to be inhibiting the powers of the crystal.

As we’ve long been hinted at, the Rubrum Peristylium will serve as your home base, allowing you to accept additional missions alongside the game’s narrative from your M.O.O.G.L.E. You also be able to visit the Crystalium, which will allow you to browse the game’s information as well as your battle history. It appears that the Byakko Peristylium is also manufacturing magic armor for it’s l’Cie, as the nation’s major strength is science for military use.

The game’s optional mission structure involves you speaking to your M.O.O.G.L.E and then heading to the world map to navigate to the designated point in the battlefield. Here you’ll face off against an enemy force which may be monsters or a human military. If you are able to defeat an enemy commander (as we previously learned) the battle will end, though this may be a difficult task. On the world map you’ll be able to encounter enemies. DPS also had more information about Ifrit and Golem summons, detailing that Ifrit is able to spew flames in front of him and Golem is able to use a “Rocket Punch” type attack to crush enemies. This damage is amplified in it’s “Burst Mode”.

If this game comes out Summer 2011 for Japan, I hope NA/EU can get this Winter 2011 (Maybe an early December release)

Yeah, it would be nice to have the game this year.
SE seems to be more and more concerned with fast localization of games, the most recent being Duodecim.
Not exactly hoping/expecting Type-0 will take just a few weeks, but again, it would be “nice”.
