Final Fantasy Network: two years and counting!

Monday, August 6th, 2012

It’s already been two years since we launched Final Fantasy Network in August of 2010! Since then, we’ve been around to cover the release and ongoing developements surrounding Final Fantasy XIV, as well as the announcements and release days of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy. In addition to news coverage, we’ve shone an extensive spotlight on featured content from the Final Fantasy fan community.

So on our two year anniversary we’d like to hear from you: our current readership. What kind of content would you like Final Fantasy Network to feature? What sort of topics about Final Fantasy would you like to see expounded upon, through editorials or otherwise?

This year is special in another (more important) way: it’s the Final Fantasy series 25th anniversary. So in keeping with any occasion like this, we want you to celebrate what you love about Final Fantasy by sharing with us what drew you in, what made it magic, and what you look forward to in the future.

Leave us a comment below, and thank you very much for reading Final Fantasy Network!

Final Fantasy Network turns a year old!

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Wow! It’s already been a year since we launched FinalFantasy.net! I want to personally thank all of our readers for making our humble site a source for their Final Fantasy series news and information. I’ll be the first to admit we’re not the most glamorous site, but we hope we’ve done a good job at keeping you updated with what you want to know. I like to think of us as that exclusive hipster club you can only get into with connections–okay not really. In the coming year, we plan to expand more from news and information into thoughtful editorials and have a spotlight on our growing community. We still desire to bring you the latest Final Fantasy news and updates, and we’ll keep you updated around the clock especially with major Square-Enix events scheduled for the second half of this year.

Tell us what you’d like to see from a Final Fantasy fansite!

We thank you and hope you will continue to make Final Fantasy Network your choice for the next year and beyond! Huzzah!

Gravatars functional for posting comments

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Gravatars (globally recognized avatars) should be up and running now, and you should be able to use your e-mail address with your Gravatar account to set up your avatar for the comments section on this site. For those who choose not to use one, we’re using an application to automatically generate one. It makes reading though the comments a tad easier, no? Oh, and no explicit avatars please.

Welcome to FinalFantasy.net! Beta Site Live!

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Welcome

You’re visiting FinalFantasy.net! Welcome to our little corner of the world wide web. Please, allow us to introduce ourselves!

FinalFantasy.net (known as Final Fantasy Network in some circles), is a Final Fantasy enthusiast’s news and community site designed by the fans, for the fans. We’d like to think we’ve gathered the best and the brightest from various backgrounds, each with their own unique take on the series. Some have been avid followers of Final Fantasy since its introduction on the NES, with others only recently starting with the newest titles and going backwards, and the rest somewhere in between. Regardless, through the year leading up to the development of the site the gang has become an extremely tightknit group, our passion for the series intensified.

Our interests in Final Fantasy doesn’t just lie in the games themselves, but in the expanded fandom and everything it encompasses. This is the series that introduced and popularized the Japanese flavor of a genre of weapons equipping and stat crunching to an international audience. This is the series that, while not the first, was certainly the most significant title to captivate fans with the introduction of CGI graphics, and the transformation from sprites to blocky 3D graphics. And certainly, this is the series that helped build otaku culture. All across the world, there isn’t an anime or gaming convention you can go to without seeing someone dressed up as your favorite Final Fantasy hero or heroine!

And that is where the foundation of this website lies—we’re here to create a one shop stop for all your Final Fantasy news, media, discussion, and fandom. This is no easy undertaking, but to get ourselves situated and into the groove of things we’ve launched this beta version of our site to kick things off. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, suggestions, or believe you’d like to get involved yourself!
