Mobius Final Fantasy Coming to Steam Next Month, Final Fantasy VII Remake Event Announced

January 26th, 2017 by Chelsi

With the direction by Yoshinori Kitase and scenario by Kazushige Nojima, Mobius Final Fantasy has seen great success as a mobile entry worldwide. The team has decided to bring the game to the PC on Steam to ensure that players will get a better feel of the game’s quality.

An interview over Square Enix’s blog with director Kitase has been posted, addressing some of the main thoughts about the game, its Steam version, and the franchise as a whole. According to project leader Naoki Hamaguchi, Mobius‘s 3D assets have been initially developed in HD so porting it to the PC with full resolutions would show the game at its best version. Since there won’t be any worries about compressing data, the game can impressively run in 60 – 120FPS, and will also support 4K resolution. It will be closer to a richer, console experience. Data sharing will be available between the mobile and Steam versions, meaning you can play on one account in both platforms at the same time.

Director Kitase has been involved in the series since Final Fantasy V, going on to produce and direct most of the beloved mainlines in the franchise. Series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi apparently appointed him with after Kitase has finished developing Romancing SaGa, saying his skills in direction in the title Legend of Mana may have contributed to his recognition. For Kitase, the most memorable titles he has developed were Final Fantasy VII, X, and XIII, due to their respective roles in the series’ direction.

Hamaguchi claims that one of the biggest challenges in developing Mobius was how to compress the consumption of power it takes due to its 3D resources, and finding the right balance in delivering a high end realistic experience in a mobile game.

The team is happy to announce that the Final Fantasy VII Remake collaboration is finally arriving outside Japan. The event is intended to be as a gift for the players who are awaiting the game’s release. The content will focus on the protagonist Cloud Strife who has made his way to Mobius‘ world, Palamecia. Collaboration with other mainlines like Final Fantasy XV could also be made if possible, and more exciting content is promised to arrive in the game.
