Lightning Returns “13 Days” Trailer

July 18th, 2013 by Tony Garsow

Square Enix has unveiled a new trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII at San Diego Comic Con with all-new gameplay footage and cutscenes. The theme this time is the final thirteen days before the end of the world and Lightning’s plight to save the souls of humanity.

Seen in a variety of outfits that can be changed and customized, Lightning encounters and battles Noel and many new monsters added in the series’ final installment. Lightning can also participate in the Slaughterhouse, and take on strong enemies for prizes at different times of the day.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII releases on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 21st in Japan, February 11th in North America, and February 14th in Europe. If you pre-order the game, you’ll be able to obtain a special in-game SOLDIER uniform and Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII.

So…many…outfits. Plus, that line at the end sounds like a good metaphor for Bhunivelze: he is the brightest light, and casts the darkest shadow in the form of Chaos.

I wonder what that crystal is: could she be releasing someone?

Also, Noel’s sin is most likely the death of the Goddess. After all, Farseers worshiped Etro and he killed her: he is a Farseer, after all. So by trying to kill Lightning, it might be that he’s trying to redeem himself – he destroyed the world so now he’s gonna save it.

I guess that pose at the end would indicate the possibility to call eidolons ??
    I hope so !!

The crystal segment is her stopping the great sandstorm from the Japan Expo demo. I’m more interested in why she was destroying a piece of Yusnaan, and who the leader of the Luxerion cult is. He seems overly familiar.

I guess it’s up to Light to free Noel from the weight of the burden he’s been carrying. And what a heck of a thing to have to live with for 500 years, to have tried your best to keep all your loved ones and the world out of harms way and to fail miserably at it. But, what he doesn’t realize is that none of it was his fault. I hope Light helps him see that. As for the leader of the Luxerion cult, my money’s either on Sazh or maybe a new character. Maybe Lumina. It’s too small a scheme for someone like Caius to be behind it.

Mmm I like me that red get up she has on at 0:50 mark. Lightning is fine!

Some of Lightning’s outfits are quite interesting. I like the idea of in-game palette swapping.
Honestly, if I were to get this game, it would be to see how good of an ARPG it is. I love a good ARPG, and I really hope SE doesn’t botch this one. On the other hand, this IS a XIII title, and a lot of people have already formed an opinion of the series. It might not have much of an effect on the market (hence, I suspect, the change in title. How many people would get stoked over XIII-3?)
