Final Fantasy III Coming To Ouya

March 28th, 2013 by Tony Garsow

ouya

Square Enix previously pledged support for Ouya (an Android-based console) with Final Fantasy III. Today, the game is finally announced on the new platform, and is also available on iOS/Android phones and tablets, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo DS. This 3D remake of the original Final Fantasy III, that released on the Famicom in 1990, features character artwork by Akihiko Yoshida.

Reviving the job system that was passed over in Final Fantasy II, the game leads four young heroes: Luneth, Arc, Refia, and Ingus on a quest to prevent the world from being plunged into darkness. By the light of the crystals, they are able to use a variety of jobs, and even summon creatures for the first time in the series.

The game will feature enhanced visuals and an interface that are conducive to console play. A free-to-play demo will be available through Ouya at launch. Final Fantasy III, through Google Play, will cost $15.99.

Ouya shipped today to backers that supported the console through crowdsourcing, with a full retail launch ($99.99) expected for June of this year. For more information on Ouya, click here.
