He is the son of the hero of the Fifty Year War, Balbanes Beoulve, half brother to Dycedarg Beoulve and Zalbag Beoulve, and full brother of Alma Beoulve. After Alma was kidnapped, he spends a good portion of the game tracking her down, and trying to stop the Lion War. =============================================================================================== 2. Rad Gender: Male Base Job: Squire Rad is the Squire who works with Gaff Gafgarion and Ramza Beoulve. He is a part of the team protecting Princess Ovelia, and after her abduction he joins Ramza's party. =============================================================================================== 3. Lavian Gender: Female Base Job: Knight Lavian is a Lesalia St. Konoe knight. She was sent along with Alicia and Agrias Oaks to guard Princess Ovelia. After the princess's abduction, she joins Ramza's party. =============================================================================================== 4. Alicia Gender: Female Base Job: Knight Alicia is a Lesalia St. Konoe knight. She was sent along with Lavian and Agrias Oaks to guard Princess Ovelia. After the princess's abduction, she joins Ramza's party. =============================================================================================== 5. Boco Gender: Male Base Job: Chocobo Boco is a chocobo who was part of Wiegraf's battalion at the Windmill Shed. He was later ambushed by several goblins in the Araguay Woods. Ramza's party rescues him, and he joins them. =============================================================================================== 6. Mustadio Gender: Male Base Job: Engineer Mustadio's father, Besrodio, was kidnapped by the Bart Trading Company after he found a Holy Stone in Goug. Besrodio gave the stone to Mustadio, who was chased by Bart Company. Their mercenaries cornered him in Zaland Fort City, but he was rescued by Ramza's party. After the rescue of his father, he joins Ramza's party. =============================================================================================== 7. Agrias Oaks Gender: Female Base Job: Holy Knight Agrias is a Holy Knight from Lesalia. She is the personal bodyguard of Princess Ovelia. After the kidnapping and rescue of the Princess, she and Ovelia are taken captive by Cardinal Draclau of Lionel. Ramza rescues her at Baraius Valley, and she joins him. =============================================================================================== 8. Rafa Galthana Gender: Female Base Job: Heaven Knight She is Malak's sister. After Duke Barinten burned their hometown, they became orphans and were taken in by Barinten. Barinten did something to Rafa (the Japanese version is clearer on that topic), she fled and was rescued by Ramza. After the death and revival of Malak, both she and her brother join Ramza's party. =============================================================================================== 9. Malak Galthana Gender: Male Base Job: Hell Knight He is Rafa's brother. After Rafa fled Riovanes Castle, he was sent to hunt her down. When Barinten tried to kill Rafa on the roof of the castle, he dived in front of her and was shot and killed. The Holy Stone brought him back to life, and he and his sister joined Ramza. =============================================================================================== 10. Cidolfas Orlandu (aka Thunder God Cid) Gender: Male Base Job: Holy Swordsman An old friend of Balbanes Beoulve, Orlandu was the Nanten's mightiest warrior. When he was framed by Delita as a traitor, Ramza and Olan rescued him and Cid joined Ramza's party. =============================================================================================== 11. Beowulf Kadmus Gender: Male Base Job: Temple Knight Former head of the Lionel Holy Knights. His lover, Reis, was turned into a dragon by a priest who was envious of their love. He wandered around Ivalice searching for her, and met up with Ramza in Goland Coal City. After locating Reis, he joins up with Ramza. =============================================================================================== 12. Worker 8 Gender: Male, I guess Base Job: Steel Giant A robot from an ancient civilization. He was discovered in Goug by Besrodio, Mustadio's father. When activated by the Holy Stone Aquarius, he proceeded to dance, beat up Mustadio, and then join Ramza's party. =============================================================================================== 13. Reis Dular Gender: Female Base Job: Holy Dragon/Dragoner Beowulf's lover. After being turned into a dragon, she ended up in the mines of Goland. After her rescue by Beowulf and Ramza, she joins Ramza's party as a dragon. After killing Worker 7 New at Nelveska and obtaining the Cancer stone, Reis turns back into a human. =============================================================================================== 14. Meliadoul Tingel Gender: Female Base Job: Divine Knight Sister to Izlude and daughter of Vormav. After Izlude's death, she has a vendetta for Ramza. But after she learns the truth about her father, she joins Ramza's party. =============================================================================================== 15. Cloud Strife Gender: Male Base Job: Soldier A man from a far-away land (aka Midgar). He was summoned by the Celestial Globe in Goug Machine City. He went to Zarghidas Trade City, defended a hapless flower girl, was rescued from certain death by Ramza, and joined his party in return. =============================================================================================== 16. Byblos Gender: Male, I guess Base Job: Byblos A mysterious Apanda-like monster found on the last level of the Deep Dungeon. He helps in the battle against Elidibs and joins Ramza's party. *********************************************************************************************** VI. The Characters =============================================================================================== 1. Ramza Beoulve (Brave 97/Faith 85) Ramza is the best all-around character in FFT. Although Orlandu is much stronger, he sucks as anything other than a Holy Swordsman or Knight. Ramza, however, works great in any job. Squire is by far the best, but I've experimented and found he makes a decent Bard, and a damn good Samurai. Here's what I think the best stuff for Ramza is. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Squire Ability1: Guts Ability2: Throw Reaction: Blade Grasp Support: Attack UP/Concentrate Movement: Teleport/Move +3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Chaos Blade Left Hand: Venetian Shield Head: Grand Helmet Body: Maximillion Accessory: Bracer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Ramza should be a Squire because of the stat bonuses he gets. He should use Throw because you can dupe a whole bunch of Chaos Blades, Ragnarocks, and other swords and throw them at enemies for HUGE damage; Blade Grasp because with high brave, almost nothing except magic can hit him; Attack UP because his attack damage will skyrocket, or Concentrate so his throws never miss; Teleport because of the movement freedom, or Move +3 so he can run to the front lines and begin attacking. =============================================================================================== 2. Rad (Brave 97/Faith 85) Rad does fine in any job, since he's a regular character. I usually use him as an Archer, because every team needs a long-range attacker. Nothing more fun than getting up on a hill and sniping people! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Archer Ability1: Charge Ability2: Battle Skill Reaction: Sunken State Support: Concentrate Movement: Move +3/Teleport ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right and Left Hands: Perseus Bow Head: Thief Hat Body: Rubber Costume Accessory: Germinias Boots ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Use Battle Skill for long-range Breaks; Sunken State for stealth attacks; Concentrate for 100% accuracy; Move +3/Teleport for easy movement. =============================================================================================== 3. Lavian (Brave 97/Faith 85) Lavian is a lot like Rad; she's good as anything. I usually use her as a Knight, since nothing beats pure physical strength. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Knight Ability1: Battle Skill Ability2: Dance Reaction: Abandon Support: Two Swords Movement: Teleport/Move +2 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Chaos Blade Left Hand: Excalibur Head: Crystal Helmet Body: Crystal Mail Accessory: Chantage ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Dance for its many abilities, Abandon for high Physical Evade, Two Swords for double Break attacks, and Teleport/Move +2 for good movement range. =============================================================================================== 4. Alicia (Brave 97/Faith 85) Alicia is also lot like Rad; she's good as anything. I usually use her as an Wizard, because I love high-damage Black Magic. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Wizard Ability1: Black Magic Ability2: Draw Out Reaction: MP Switch Support: Short Charge/Non-Charge(only w/GameShark) Movement: Move-MP UP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Faith Rod/Whale Whisker/Madlemgen/Mace of Zeus Left Hand: Empty Head: Ribbon Body: Robe of Lords Accessory: Chantage ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Draw Out because it works best on Wizards, MP Switch for no damage, Short Charge (or Non-Charge) for low charging times, and Move-MP UP to regain all the lost MP from MP Switch. =============================================================================================== 5. Boco (Brave 97/Faith 85) Uh....well....he's a chocobo. Not much strategy involved with him, since you can't equip him with anything or set his abilities. Just have him heal the wounded and occasionaly attack. =============================================================================================== 6. Mustadio Bunanza (Brave 97/Faith 85) Mustadio makes a mean Chemist. Nothing beats a Chemist in the long-range attack department. Well, except Worker 8. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Chemist Ability1: Item Ability2: Snipe Reaction: Blade Grasp Support: Equip Armor Movement: Teleport/Move +3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Stone Gun (if you don't mind de-Petrifying him every battle)/Blast Gun Left Hand: Empty Head: Crystal Helmet Body: Crystal Armor Accessory: Angel Ring ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Snipe for the stopping power, Blade Grasp for the high evade, Equip Armor for the added HP, and Teleport/Move +3 for added movement. =============================================================================================== 7. Agrias Oaks (Brave 97/Faith 85) Most special characters work great in their regular classes, so why change a good thing? Keep Agrias as a Holy Knight. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Holy Knight Ability1: Holy Sword Ability2: Steal Reaction: Sunken State Support: Concentrate Movement: Teleport/Move +2 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Chaos Blade/Excalibur Left hand: Crystal Shield Head: Crystal Helmet Body: Crystal Mail Accessory: Chantage ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Use Steal for those helpful items, and the nice charming ability; Sunken State for stealth attacks; Concentrate to increase connection rates of Steal; and Teleport/Move +2 for the oh-so-convenient extra movement radius. =============================================================================================== 8. Rafa Galthana* (Brave 97/Faith 85) Magic is good, right? Calculated magic is better, right? And Summoned Monsters are even better, right? So put all three in a nice convenient package known as Rafa. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Summoner Ability1: Summon Magic Ability2: Math Skill Reaction: Counter Magic Support: MagicAttack UP/Short Charge Movement: Move-MP UP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Wizard Rod/Faith Rod/Mace Of Zeus Left Hand: Empty Head: Golden Hairpin/Flash Hat Body: Wizard Robe Accessory: Chantage ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: This version of Rafa is the ultimate magic attacker. She has all forms of regularly accessible magic available to her. Use Math skill to devastate the enemy magic-style; Counter Magic (if it works) to give it right back to the enemy; MagicAttack UP for mad magic damage or Short Charge for low Summon charge times; and Move-MP UP to restore MP after Summon spells. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Note: Only create this version of Rafa after the Deep Dungeon. You'll need her naturally low brave to help you out there. =============================================================================================== 9. Malak Galthana (Brave 97/Faith 03) Un-Truth isn't THAT bad, if you fight low-faith enemies. If not, Malak makes up for Un-Truth with sheer physical attack power. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Ninja Ability1: Throw Ability2: Un-Truth Reaction: Blade Grasp Support: Attack UP Movement: Teleport/Move +3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Iga Knife/Koga Knife Left Hand: Iga Knife/Koga Knife Head: Twist Headband Body: Power Sleeve Accessory: Bracer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Use Un-Truth for elemental attacks; Blade Grasp for high evade; Attack UP for even more attack power; and Teleport/Move +3....well, you should know why by now. =============================================================================================== 10. Cidolfas Orlandu (aka Thunder God Cid) (Brave 97/Faith 85) Cid truly is the god of FFT. He can deal so much damage that somehow, it almost seems dirty in a way. Best thing for Cid: Don't change much about him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Holy Swordsman Ability1: All SwordSkill Ability2: Punch Art Reaction: MP Switch Support: Martial Arts Movement: Teleport/Move +3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Chaos Blade/Excalibur Left Hand: Genji Shield Head: Genji Helmet Body: Genji Armor Accessory: Genji Gauntlet ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Use Punch Art in case his weapon gets broken; MP Switch to take no damage (and then restore lost MP with Dark Sword); Martial Arts to boost his Punch Art skills; and Teleport or Move +3 for the usual reasons. =============================================================================================== 11. Beowulf Kadmus (Brave 97/Faith 85) Beowulf is basically a beefed-up Oracle. That doesn't mean he sucks, though. I consider him to be part of the "Holy Trinity" (Ramza, Orlandu, Beowulf). Everyone's favorite Temple Knight can be incredibly powerful, if you know how to use him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Temple Knight Ability1: Magic Sword Ability2: Math Skill Reaction: Blade Grasp Support: MagicAttack UP Movement: Move-MP UP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Rune Blade Left Hand: Aegis Shield Head: Crystal Helmet Body: Wizard Robe Accessory: Magic Gauntlet ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Math Skill for fun with magic; Blade Grasp for Evade; MagicAttack UP for even higher MA; Move-MP UP to replenish all the lost MP from Magic Sword. =============================================================================================== 12. Worker 8 (Brave 97/Faith 00) Worker 8 is really good at attacking. He does both long-range and short-range, and no magic will ever hurt him. He's a great choice in any battle with magic users, but he has one problem. He needs a Chemist to heal him, beacuse no magic spells work on him. Also, every time you use a Work ability, he takes damage. Although he's powerful, he does have drawbacks. Play carefully! =============================================================================================== 13. Reis Dular (Brave 97/Faith 85) Reis is one tough woman. As a Dragoner, she gets the largest HP boost. She has good attack power, plus she has Two Swords, Train, and Monster Skill built in! Plus, Dragon is very nice to use on Hyudras. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Dragoner Ability1: Dragon Ability2: Elemental Reaction: MP Switch Support: Equip Sword Movement: Move-MP UP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Rune Blade Left Hand: Rune Blade Head: Ribbon Body: Empty Accessory: Seitemsion ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Use Elemental for long-range status attacks; MP Switch to prevent HP damage, Equip Sword to inflict more damage; and Move-MP UP to restore lost MP. =============================================================================================== 14. Meliadoul Tingel (Brave 97/Faith 85) Melaidoul inspires fear in all human enemies. She can break almost all equpiment, and deal damage while she does it! Even if you aren't fighting humans, she can be a powerful attacker. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Divine Knight Ability1: Mighty Sword Ability2: Steal Reaction: Blade Grasp Support: Attack UP Movement: Move +2/Teleport ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Chaos Blade Left Hand: Venitian Shield Head: Ribbon/Crystal Helmet Body: Crystal Mail Accessory: Chantage ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Use Steal to charm enemies and get equipment and EXP; Blade Grasp to avoid attacks; Attack UP to inflict more damage; and Move +2/Teleport for the reasons you're sick of by now. =============================================================================================== 15. Cloud Strife (Brave 97/Faith 85) Ah, the hero from FFVII. Think he'll be the best character you've got? Not when you first get him. Unfortunately, he starts off at level 1. By the time you get him, you should be damn close to level 99. So build him up to level 99, then use him to your heart's delight. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Soldier Ability1: Limit Ability2: Draw Out Reaction: MP Switch Support: Two Swords Movement: Move-MP UP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Rune Blade Left Hand: Materia Blade Head: Thief Hat Body: Rubber Costume Accessory: Bracer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Use Draw Out for Samurai-style fun; MP Switch to prevent HP damage; Two Swords so you aren't stuck with the crappy Materia Blade as a weapon (since you have to equip it to use Limit); and Move-MP UP to restore lost MP. =============================================================================================== 16. Byblos (Brave 97/Faith 85) The Byblos is like an Apanda, but he looks cooler. And he has a few nice abilities that only the Byblos knows. Parasite is good, but it's hampered by its low sucess rate. Difference is great against magic-users and the Zodiac Monsters. Energy is good for healing in a pinch, and Shock is halfway decent. *********************************************************************************************** VII. Reader Strategies Well, if you have any srtategies that you came up with, send 'em in! You can get them to me via e-mail at ramza311@yahoo.com. The first strategy is from me. It's my alternate Rad strategy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rad (Brave 97/Faith 85) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Lancer Ability1: Jump Ability2: Talk Skill Reaction: Dragon Spirit Support: Monster Talk Movement: Teleport/Move +3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Dragon Whisker Left Hand: Crystal Shield Head: Crystal Helmet Body: Crystal Mail Accessory: Bracer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: Use Talk Skill to boost stats; Dragon Spirit for Re-Raise; Monster Talk for Talk Skill on monsters; and Teleport/Move +3 for the movement range you know you want. =============================================================================================== This Cloud strategy is from Foxtail Jeter (ramza_176@hotmail.com). Thanks, Foxtail! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cloud (Brave 97/Faith 85) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job: Soldier Ability1: Limit Ability2: Jump Reaction: Mp Switch/Hamedo Support: Short Charge/Equip Armor Movement: Teleport ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right Hand: Materia Blade Left Hand: Empty Head: Thief Hat/Crystal Helm Body: Black Costume/Crystal Mail Accessory: Sprint Shoes ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation: -Limit: Not much choice there, try to use Climhazzard on the last boss.. -Jump: To compensate for Cloud's crappy range. Can also be used to escape dangerous situations (like a nice little Zodiac...) -Mp Switch: If you didn't use equip armor this is necessary to avoid damage. or -Hamedo: Use this if you have the Armor. It's risky but with a high enough brave,it kicks butt. -Short Charge: To compensate for Cloud's crappy speed or -Equip Armor: For the Hp Bonus -Teleport: If I have to explain this one, I think I'll start to cry... *********************************************************************************************** VIII.
