Finished up on all of the Battlefields. =================== TABLE OF CONTENTS =================== 1.) Introduction 2.) Legal Stuff 3.) Battlefields 4.) Credits/Thanks =================== 1.) Introduction =================== Howdy and welcome to my FAQ for the Battlefields in Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. To be quite honest, I'm not one of those Final Fantasy: MQ bashers that you see a lot of. I found the game to be pretty good. Sure, it's not the best game or RPG ever, but I just found it to be fun with its simplicity. Infact, this was the perfect RPG for someone that wanted to get into RPGs back then, because of its simplicity. This guide will cover all the Battlefields in the game, since I know how much of a pain some of them can be if you don't come well prepared. =================== 2.) Legal Stuff =================== The latest version of this guide will always be posted at GameFAQs first. This FAQ is copyrighted by me, and may be used for personal use. Battlefields =================== This guide will list all of the Battlefields in the game, where they're at, what enemies reside in them, and the rewards you get for completeing the battlefields. +----------------------------------------+ | Location: North of Level Forest | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 1 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Mad Plant 60 Axe 57 3 | | P. Toad 70 N/A 63 3 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 54 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -This battlefield is pretty easy. For the Mad Plants, you should just Axe it to death and you should have no problems. The Poison Toads, however, are more of a problem, as they tend to hit hard, so make sure to keep your health up. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: West of Sand Temple | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 2 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Basilisk 90 N/A 81 3 | | Mad Plant 60 Axe 57 3 | | P. Toad 70 N/A 63 3 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | Charm | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Another simple one, as you've faced off against two of these enemies already. Howerve,r Basilisk's may pose as a problem, as like with the Poison Toads, they can do a lot of damage, especially if they use Fang, so make sure to keep yourself healed up. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: East of Sand Temple | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 3 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Basilisk 90 N/A 81 3 | | M. Zombie 190 Cure 120 3 | | S. Worm 140 Axe/E 99 3 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 150 GP | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already faced the Basilisk already. Minotaur Zombies attack just like the Minotaur you fought earlier in the game. The Zombies, though, tend to use their status effects more often, so make sure to have some healing items ready to use. Sand Worms are more of an annoyance than a hassle. They'll often use Crunch to do some heavy damage, and from time to time they'll use Quicksand to lower your speed and damage you. Use Axe attacks and Earth attacks against them, as they're weak to them. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: South of Libra Temple | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 4 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Mint Mint 160 N/A 117 3 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 99 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Mint Mints are exactly like Brownies, and have the same attacks, so you shouldn't have any troubles with them. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: East of Libra Temple | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 5 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Mint Mint 160 N/A 117 3 | | G. Toad 180 N/A 114 3 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 300 GP | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already fought Mint Mints before, so you should know how to deal with them. Giant Toads are just like Poison Toads, except that they can't Poison you. They instead Paralyze, so make sure to take them out as fast as you can. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: South of Aquaria | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 6 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Mint Mint 160 N/A 117 3 | | G. Toad 180 N/A 114 3 | | Scorpion 210 Fire 129 3 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | Magic Ring | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already fought Mint Mints and Giant Toads, so you know what to expect from them. Scorpions are pretty dangerous, mainly because of two things. For starters, they can poison you. They also have an attack that can do near or over 100 damage to a character, so make sure to watch out for that. Use Fire on them as they're weak to it. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: East of Aquaria | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 7 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Edgehog 220 Fire 135 3 | | G. Toad 180 N/A 114 3 | | Scorpion 210 Fire 129 3 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 99 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already faced off against Giant Toads and Scorpions already, so you should know how to face them already. Edgehogs are really dangerous. They can paralyze you AND blind you, as well as hit you for heavy damage, so you'll want to take them out on your first turn if possible. They're weak to Fire, and a Fire attack should be able to kill them in one shot. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: West of Wintry Cave | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 8 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | D. Hag 280 Fire 168 6 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 600 GP | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Thankfully, Desert Hags aren't much of a threat. The most dangerous thing about them is their ability to counter your attacks, so make sure to try to take them out on your first attack. Use Fire to do that. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: South of Ice Pyramid | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 9 \ /------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | D. Hag 280 Fire 168 6 | | Lamia 300 W/I/L 150 6 | | Mage 330 Fire 186 6 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 540 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already faced off against a Desert Hag before, so you should know what to do. Lamias are more of an annoyance than they are tough. Lamias will try to put you to sleep most of the time, so you'll want to get rid of them and fast. Wind, Ice, and Lightning are the most effective against them. Mages may seem a bit intimidating, but they're actually pushovers. Your physical attacks should be more than enough to deal with them. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: North of Libra Temple | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 10 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Sphinx 360 N/A 201 9 | | Phanquid 400 Fire 231 9 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | Exit | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Use your physical attacks against Sphinxs to take them down quickly. They have a nasty habit of using Riddle a lot, which has the chance to confuse you. Phanquids are actually pretty simple. The only damaging attack they have is 6 Psudopods, and even then if you use Fire, you should be able to take them down quickly. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: North of Wintry Cave | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 11 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | F. Crab 410 Axe 237 9 | | Gather 360 Bombs 192 9 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 744 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Freezer Crabs have the same attack patterns as the Snow Crab, but it's a bit weaker than the Snow Crab. Axe it to death and you should have no problems. Gathers are more trouble than the Freezer Crabs, mainly because of their ability to self destruct and the ability to paralyze and blind you. Use bombs to get the most effective damage on them. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: North of Focus Tower | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 12 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Jelly 420 Bombs 243 12 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 900 GP | \ / \_________________________________________/ -This is probably the easiest Battlefield in the game, as it contains nothing but Jellies, who are just weak little fellows. Just use Bombs on them to take them out quickly. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: North of Battlefield 12 | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 13 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Jelly 420 Bombs 243 12 | | Sting Rat 420 Ice 252 9 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | Gemini Crest | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already faced off against Jellies, so you should know how to handle them already. Sting Rats tend to try to poison you or paralyze you every chance they get, so you'll want to take them out as fast as you can. Use Blizzard to take them out quickly as they're weak to it. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: East of Fireburg | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 14 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Plant Man 460 Axe 258 9 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 816 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Plant Man isn't that much of a threat, mainly because you should be immune to Paralyze by now. Simply Axe it to death or use fire on it to get rid of it quickly. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: West of Fireburg | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 15 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Plant Man 460 Axe 258 9 | | Sting Rat 420 Ice 252 9 | | Flazzard 450 Ice 261 9 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 1200 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already faced off against Plant Man and Sting Rats, so you should know what to expect from them. Flazzards have the potential to be dangerous, depending on what attack pattern they decide to use. You'll want to watch out for Flame, as it does a lot of damage. Use Blizzard on them to take them out quickly. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: South of Mine | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 16 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Flazzard 450 Ice 261 9 | | Red Cap 480 Ice 294 12 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | Thunder | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already faced off against Flazzards, so you should know what to expect already. Red Caps are just buffed up versions of Brownies and Mint Mints, so you should have no problems dealing with them. Just use Blizzard to dispose of them quickly. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: West of Volcano | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 17 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Red Bone 510 Cure 315 12 | | Ghost 550 Cure 330 12 | | Zombie 500 Cure 324 12 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 1200 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Red Bones are just buffed up versions of Skeletons. Either heal their asses to death or use Blizzard to dispose of them quickly. Ghosts are more annoying than they are hard. They'll often counter your attacks which can also confuse you and they'll lower your physical attack. They can also call upon other Ghosts to help in battle. Use Cure on them to get the most damage if they keep lowering your physical attack. Zombies aren't as tough as Ghosts, though. Just watch out, since they can counter you. Use Cure on them. If they multiply, just keep attacking. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: East of Volcano | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 18 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Iflyte 660 Ice 420 12 | | Stheno 630 Earth 432 15 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 1086 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Iflytes resemble the Jinn you battled earlier. But an Iflyte isn't nearly as powerful as his counterpart. Watch out for Flame Sweep, as it can do some heavy damage. Just use Blizzard on him. Sthenos are just as dangerous as the Medusa was. Avoid attacking it physically, as a Stheno will most likely counter by stoning you. Use Earth based spells to take her down quickly before she can stone you. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: East of Kaidge Temple | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 19 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Ooze 750 Bombs 540 18 | | Skuldier 750 Cure 513 18 | | Water Hag 765 Fire 576 18 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 2808 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -Oozes are just buffed up versions of Jellies. Though they're a bit more powerful than their counterparts, they're still no threat to you. Simply just use Bombs on them. Skuldiers are pretty dangerous, mainly because they can use Doom Powder, which kills you instantly and it usually hits. Use Cure or Aero on them to kill them quickly. Water Hags aren't that tough. They can cast Cure on themselves, so make sure to take them out on your first turn. Using Fire will help that out greatly. ------------------- +----------------------------------------+ | Location: South of Windia | |________________________________________| / Battlefield 20 \ /-------------------------------------------\ | Enemies HP Weak Exp GP | | ------- -- ---- --- -- | | Water Hag 765 Fire 576 18 | | Vampire 780 Wind 561 18 | | ------------------------------------------| | Rewards | | ------- | | 2700 Exp | \ / \_________________________________________/ -You've already faced off against Water Hags, so you should know what to expect from them. Vampires, despite the name, aren't really all that dangerous, but can still do some damage. They can also cure themselves, so use Aero to take them out quickly. =================== 4.)
