Final Fantasy Legend also know as Makai Tōshi SaGa in Japan, which in turn is roughly translated to SaGa: Tower of the Demon Realm; was the debut of a role playing game on the Nintendo Game Boy handheld. Developed by Square in 1989 it was released worldwide. Final Fantasy Legend is the first installment of the SaGa series that was developed by Square. This series is not really a part of the Final Fantasy series.
The story follows four characters who try to scale a tower that supposedly leads to paradise. Every person that has attempted to climb the tower has never been heard from again.
Final Fantasy Legend uses a basic turn based battle gameplay mechanic. Similar to those in use for the previous Final Fantasies. The usual random encouter battles was also used. Although there was an advancement in customization from earlier Final Fantasy games.
