Final Fantasy 13

At the Electronics Expo Convention in 2006, Square Enix surprised all with the announcement of the newest installment in the series Final Fantasy XIII, exclusively for the Playstation 3. The game features graphics unheard of in an RPG up until now, although other then the amazing graphics, the content and release of the game remains a mystery.

Final Fantasy XIII uses Square Enix's White Engine, a development engine created specifically for use on the Playstation 3. Three characters have been unveiled at this time, Lightning, a female wielding a weapon similar to Squall's gunblade, a blonde male wielding a gun, and another female wielding a bow.

Final Fantasy XIII's development team features much of the team involved in FFVII, VIII, and X. Motomu Toriyama will direct the game. A compilation has already been planned, with two titles officially announced. Final Fantasy VS XIII will take place in the same universe and feature an action RPG battle system, and is to be directed by Tetsuya Nomura. Final Fantasy Agito XIII is a game for mobile phones.

Hardly anything is known about this game, or even it's supposed exclusivity. Rumors continue to float about that a possible 360 version will be released alongside the PS3. However, the game does not look to be released anytime soon, with development just passing infancy.
