Dissidia Final Fantasy NT – Beta Test + New Character Announcement

August 8th, 2017 by Peter

Update: August 16, 2017

The release date for Jecht has been announced for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.  Jecht will be available on launch with the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

Square Enix has announced that the beta test of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will be held from August 26th (13:00) to September 4th (13:00) Japan Standard Time.

You can sign up for an application ticket on the Japanese PlayStation Store, starting August 8th to August 20th. This does not confirm you can play in the beta, as if there are too many applicants, there’ll be a lottery deciding the participants.

Jecht from Final Fantasy X has also been announced as a playable character for the game through a video by Square Enix. Like the previous Dissidia games, Jecht is a fast and powerful fighter, fighting with a fury of punches, kicks, and powerful sword strikes; his combos do slightly differ from the original PSP games.

Unfortunately, Jecht will not be available for the beta. There will be fourteen characters representing each Final Fantasy in the beta though.

The list of characters for the beta are:

  • Warrior of Light (Final Fantasy)
  • Firion (Final Fantasy II)
  • Onion Knight (Final Fantasy III)
  • Cecil Harvey (Final Fantasy IV)
  • Bartz Klauser (Final Fantasy V)
  • Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI)
  • Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)
  • Squall Leonhart (Final Fantasy VIII)
  • Zidane Tribal (Final Fantasy IX)
  • Tidus (Final Fantasy X)
  • Shantotto (Final Fantasy XI)
  • Vaan (Final Fantasy XII)
  • Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII)
  • Y’shtola (Final Fantasy XIV)

The first thirteen characters were playable in previous entries, but Y’shtola is a new addition to the roster representing XIV; this will be the first time she’s playable outside of the arcade port.

You can sign up for the US or PAL beta test, but release details have not be released yet.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is due for a 2018 release.
