Two titles formerly exclusive to Japanese mobile phones will be heading to Facebook for international audiences to enjoy as well! Knights of the Crystals and Chocobo’s Crystal Tower. Both games harness the power of social media as a key gameplay concept, and will be free to play, but certain paid items require you to shell out some change to obtain. You can check them out for yourself by following the links provided.

Tonight, Nintendo held a conference surrounding the new 3DS handheld scheduled to release next February-March. In the lineup for the device, a new version of Chocobo Racing was present, a new successor to the spinoff franchise that started on the first PlayStation. The game’s time in the trailer is brief but you can spot a bit of racing, but there also looks to be some combat worked in there as well. Take a look below and see if you can spot more details!
Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon will hit the Japanese PlayStation Network’s Game Archives on August 25th for 600 yen ($6.99 USD). This comes from the Square-Enix Members blog courtesy of producer Shinji Hashimoto. However, no word about Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon 2, which was previously reported to be releasing at the same time as it’s predecessor. Also there is no present confirmation of these two titles coming abroad.
Update: Here’s a video of it running on PSP, from Shinji Hashimoto.

Square-Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto tweeted tonight that in honor of his twitter reaching 15,000 posts (methinks other motivations at work too), they will be bringing Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon 2 to PSN simultaneously with the first game. This marks the first time Square-Enix is releasing more than one game digitally at the same time, as previous releases have been weeks or months apart. Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon 2 was the first in the series to be localized outside Japan, but an overseas announcement hasn’t been confirmed as of this time.
Square-Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto announced today that the first title in the Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon (Chocobo no Fushigina Dungeon) series would be the next title headed to the Japanese PlayStation Network. Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon was never released abroad, but curiously it’s sequel made it’s way stateside in 1999. The game is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in the vein of Rogue and Adventure that pits chocobo-hero “Poulet” (French for chicken) against many fiends, but not without an array of job crystals at his disposal. Poulet can change jobs based on his most urgent need, especially when getting KO’d is permanent! Despite being a spinoff of a mascot character, the game was very successful in Japan and sold over one-million units and garnered it’s own fanbase. Since then, Chocobo’s Dungeon 2 (PS1) and Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungon (Wii) have been met with moderate success.
A release date has not been set yet, however PSN-bound PS1 games have shown up on the network within one to two months after the initial announcement. There is also no confirmation of an overseas release, and not every Square-Enix PS1 game has made it to the North American PSN. (Vagrant Story is available for PAL regions, but still not NA!) Since this may involve a translation being that it was never brought abroad in the first place, the outlook is slim to none.
