Introducing… Bravely Default: Flying Fairy

February 27th, 2012 by Tony Garsow

We first learned about Bravely Default: Flying Fairy game at its official unveiling at last year’s Tokyo Game Show. For any Final Fantasy fan, this game might be a familiar (and welcome) throwback to the days of pre-rendered backgrounds. Originally set to be a sequel to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light (also developed by Matrix Software and with art direction by Akihiko Yoshida), this game also returns the feel of old-school Final Fantasy — even if the subtitle serves only as a reminder of the series it originates from. To create a nostalgic feel, the developers bravely default to the style and mechanics that won us over in years’ past.

The game itself will feature many classic elements, but incorporate new ones as well, such as the Augmented Reality feature on the game’s platform: 3DS. Combat, exploration, and story are tried and true Final Fantasy flair — but with a three dimensional twist.

Bravely Default: Flying Fariy is set to release on the Nintendo 3DS this year, and starting now we’ll be covering all the developments prior to release. Long time fans of Final Fantasy: what do you think of this game? Make sure to sound off in the comments below! You can also view more videos about Bravely Default: Flying Fairy on our official YouTube channel.

Looks great! Please release this over seas Square! I bought a 3DS but haven’t play it since I’ve beaten Ocarina of Time. Release good games on it.

  • dan hibiki

This is a game I’d really like to play, as I’d like to play The 4 Heroes of Light. Too bad I don’t have a DS or a 3DS…

  • Cody

I’m a little confused, I guess I don’t go far enough back with the FF games or something. Is this the first of the series, or has there been another flying fairy before? Aside from that, is this game still a sequel to 4 heroes of lite, or is it just something new now?

@dan: Yeah it a good game. I think square enix might re-release in the future to different system. Depend on stituation and sales. They did with ff4 and it sequel. Another rpg game that i don’t remember it’s name was suppose to exclusive to Xbox then it got ported to Ps3.

It will be good as well as they keep with the good games. But still, just got my psVita And i’m wondering, when will they say anything about projects for it?

  • dan hibiki

Mmh, I see your point, but these are games with touch screen based features and stuff…don’t know if we should expect to see a re-release for other systems

This game is a direct sequel of The 4 Heroes of Light, they just didn’t put the “Final Fantasy” in the title!

I`m watching my post…Dan Hibiki, Vega and Cody…now, where’s Ken Masters?

  • vega >>> von

@Dan yeah, even kingdom hearts coded got updated ported to ds (was a mobile game). Speaking of kh, have u seen kh3d trailer, the faster kh game using bbs gameplay and trailer is mind blown. I call 12 paths of Xenanort.

Lol, I think Light-San if should evolve into Light-Sakura or Light-Ken using suggestion stone. Joking for now.
