Defend yourself with the “Paladin” Crown!

August 6th, 2010 by Tony Garsow

The newest addition to the massive list of “Crowns” (or jobs) is the Paladin, a classic Final Fantasy class that plays defensively “and doesn’t afraid of anything!” . This unique class will be utilized in defending other party members from damage all while putting up a decent defense with armor. The abilities the Paladin will bring into battle include “Cover”, which will shield allies from enemy attacks (that will damage the paladin instead). Other abilities include: “Bait”, which will provoke enemies to attack you instead of your friends and “Avenge”, which will increase your physical power when an enemy is targeting you for an attack. There’s one more ability listed as well called “Last Stand”. While no description of it is given, perhaps it will be an ability used while the paladin or his/her allies is in critical health status.

Brandt, Jusqua, Unita, and Aire display the Paladin Crown.

Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes of Light features a Crown system similar to the classic Final Fantasy job system. Crowns (whether they be helms or hats) of all types represent their individual jobs and bestow their respective wearer with abilities specific to that Crown. White Mage, Black Mage, Fighter, Ranger, and Bard are just some of the jobs recently revealed in Square-Enix’s “Summer of Jobs” blog on the official website. There are some new takes on some classic jobs and some entirely new ones as well!

The game features a take on the classic NES-era Final Fantasy games, from turn-based battle systems to charming characters and locales. Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes of Light is exclusive to the Nintendo DS, and will be available for North American audiences on October 5th, 2010 for $34.99 USD. You can also pre-order now at Gamestop’s website. European audiences will only wait until October 8th, 2010 to get their hands on the RPG.
